CFED Staff Offer Exclusive Commentary
By Sean Luechtefeld on 07/11/2011 @ 12:45 PM
This morning, Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity posted content in their Exclusive Commentary section about un- and underbanked individuals. Written by Policy & Research Associate Ethan Geiling and Director of Research Genevieve Melford, the piece focuses on the underrated status of access to financial services in ensuring stable financial footing for low- and moderate-income individuals.

The commentary not only explains some of the financial challenges facing those without access to bank accounts, but also explores some of the approaches being taken toward mitigating these challenges. Among these approaches are programs like Bank On, a project started by the San Francisco Office of the Treasurer, and efforts to connect employees with bank accounts at major employers through direct deposit, a model explored during CFED’s Innovator-in-Residence partnership with Eugénie FitzGerald.
Use the comments section below to let us know what you think, and join us in thanking the Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity for featuring Ethan & Gen’s commentary!
