Here We Grow Again!

CFED has undergone exceptional growth over the past two years as more and more people realize the importance of our vision of creating an opportunity economy. Since the beginning of this summer alone, our growth has led to the welcoming of 12 new staff members to the CFED family. Since you’ll probably see some new faces as we travel about the country, we’d like to introduce you to the newest members of our team. (And if you or someone you know is interested in joining our family, we have several open positions for which we’re actively recruiting!)
Dedrick Asante-Muhammad joined CFED in August as the Director of our new Racial Wealth Divide program. CFED marks the next chapter in Dedrick’s long career in addressing racial economic inequality, and his expertise positions us well in our quest to narrow the racial wealth divide.
Karianna Barr is CFED’s new Database & Sponsorships Manager, responsible for overseeing our development operations and managing conference sponsorships. Most recently, Karianna worked with the SEED Foundation, which serves urban public charter schools in Maryland, DC and South Florida.
Christine Biddlecombe is the newest member of our I’M HOME team, which she joined in July as a Program Associate. Christine brings a wealth of affordable housing experience, most recently in her role on the public policy team at Enterprise Community Partners.
Megan Bolado joined the Savings & Financial Capability team as a Program Manager this summer. Her previous positions at Points of Light and the International Youth Foundation have already made her a valuable asset to this fast-growing team.
Anju Chopra is one of the newest members of the CFED family, joining the Government Affairs team in September as a Senior Policy Manager. Her unique background as both a practicing attorney and an economic development expert contribute to CFED’s diverse range of federal policy efforts.
Tonia Kallon brings several years of business operations experience to her new role as CFED’s Human Resources Coordinator. Our success as an organization relies on a strong operations team, so we are grateful for the ways Tonia is already providing frontline support to staff across CFED.
Stephanie Landry joined CFED last month as a Program Manager on the Savings & Financial Capability team. Having recently earned her Master of Public Policy degree from Georgetown University, Stephanie comes to CFED with a range of experience, including internships with the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and with the Senate Finance Committee.
Myra Li joined CFED this summer as an Accounting Assistant. As CFED has grown, so too has our need for an even stronger Finance team, and Myra hit the ground running, jumping right in to support CFED’s accounting needs.
David Newville is CFED’s new Director of Government Affairs, and in this role he oversees all of our federal policy and advocacy work. David’s extensive background in expanding economic opportunity, most recently as Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, uniquely positions him to lead our policy efforts to create an opportunity economy.
Ariel Sankar-Bergmann is a new Program Manager on the Savings & Financial Capability team. Her extensive background as a researcher and advocate—most recently at Bronx Defenders and the Justice Policy Center at the Urban Institute—complement the skills of this quickly growing team.
Lillian Singh joins CFED’s newest initiative—our Racial Wealth Divide program—as its Associate Director. Having served most recently as Director of Strategic Partnerships for NAACP, Lillian’s expertise is an essential part of our commitment to advancing racial economic equality.
Sam Weinstock provides research, writing and data analysis in his role as Research Associate. Sam joined CFED’s Applied Research team in June after graduating from Harvard with a degree in Social Studies, and he has completed internships at the National League of Cities and the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago.
Finally, Melissa Grober-Morrow was promoted in July to Director of Savings & Financial Capability. After spending a year as Associate Director, we’re thrilled with the direction Melissa will take CFED’s largest and fastest-growing program team.
Please join us in welcoming our new colleagues to CFED! And, if you’re interested in joining our growing team as well or you know someone who is, check out our current job openings:
