June is shaping up to be a pretty full month for those of us on the innovation@cfed Team. Between planning for the 2010 Assets Learning Conference and Innovation Marketplace and the forthcoming announcement of our newest additions to our innovation portfolio, we’ve got a busy and exciting month ahead!

As part of our efforts to make the innovation@cfed community more interactive and useful to the members of our community, we’ll be rolling out in the next month an innovation database of sorts. Currently, individuals seeking to acquire information about Innovators-in-Residence, Innovative Idea Champions and Innovative Idea Engineers can go online and read basic information about the idea and the innovator. While this is helpful, advances in social media technology are quickly making it so that we can feature our innovators in more useful ways. Soon, you’ll be able to search not just for innovators, but for topic/foci areas and by idea. So, for example, perhaps you’re interested in youth entrepreneurship. Right now, you’d have to thumb through each of the innovator bios to see which ones are relevant to your interest. Once we’ve redesigned the database, you’ll be able to click on a youth entrepreneurship tag and find all of the individuals working within that area. You’ll also be able to browse by the name of the innovation in addition to by the name of the innovator. So, for example, maybe you meet an innovator at the Innovation Marketplace that you really want to converse with after the Assets Learning Conference. If you don’t remember their name, but you remember their idea, then the new database will be perfect you – just search for the innovation itself!

Each of the innovations will have more robust information on the website as well. In addition to the information you already have access to, we’ll also be putting updates on innovators’ progress online, including email addresses and Web sites for innovators so it’s easy to get in touch with them and more detailed information about the innovation. Our hope is that the website will be even more user-friendly than it currently is while giving you the maximum amount of information.
