CFED President Andrea Levere Speaks at Microfinance USA Conference
By Sean Luechtefeld on 05/21/2010 @ 03:50 PM
This morning, CFED President spoke alongside City and County of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom at the Microfinance USA Conference in San Francisco. While I was unable to attend myself, I’ve been following along on Twitter and it seems like Andrea’s address was well-received by a crowded room of innovation leaders in the entrepreneurship field. I’ve decided to share a few of the best quotes from her address as they highlight perfectly CFED’s work and the work of our colleagues in the field. Here are the top-takeaways, as provided by Twitter users at the conference:
- “San Francisco is a laboratory of innovation.”
- “Low-income people are the producers of their economic futures.”
- “Amidst crisis comes opportunity! Microfinance is uniquely positioned to change the balance-of-power for low-income entrepreneurs.”
- “Our goal is to manage risk and create hope for the future.”
- “The golden rule of finance is matching source and uses of funds.”
