With all of the recent political changes, we have heard from practitioners an increased desire for opportunities and practical strategies on how to advocate on behalf of their low- and moderate-income taxpayers to create a more equitable tax code and promote economic opportunity. CFED’s Federal Policy team has been hard at work developing a crash course in federal tax policy and advocacy opportunities for 501(c)(3) nonprofits. The Taxpayer Opportunity Network put all of these updates forward including some new policy brief topics.
CFED’s Federal Policy Legislative Analyst Chad Bolt shared an overview of the most recent federal tax policy landscape and updates related to the community tax preparation field. Janne Huang from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities also joined us to share simple, effective ways for you to engage in advocacy efforts to help your EITC-eligible clients.
