Public Policy
Federal and state policies to fund IDAs have helped create accounts for more than 115,000 low-income families across the country. This is a remarkable achievement for a concept that was largely unknown a decade ago. Clearly, many more could benefit from the life-changing opportunity of an IDA if additional resources were made available.
CFED works actively to promote public policies that would dramatically expand savings and asset-building opportunities to millions of new accountholders. We rely on our network of IDA practitioners, financial institution partners, funders, IDA savers, advocates and other stakeholders to help make this issue a priority on Capitol Hill and in statehouses across the country. Here’s how you can get involved:
- Add your voice to those advocating for the expansion of IDA opportunities on the federal level.
- Learn more about state-level support for IDA programs in CFED’s 2009-2010 Assets & Opportunity Scorecard.
