During the first four years of SETI, local partners have served over 30,000 low-income and disadvantaged self-employed businesses. SETI has collected and analyzed data on these 30,000 businesses. These findings illustrate the unique characteristics and needs of low-income and disadvantaged entrepreneurs.
Over the past several years SETI local partners have had real impact helping disadvantaged entrepreneurs file their taxes, access tax credits and deductions and connect to crucial business development products.
SETI awards grants to nonprofit, local partners implementing a self-employment tax preparation program. To date, SETI has partnered with over 40 organizations across the country. These local partners help SETI identify, test and refine best practices for using the tax code as a means of fostering small business development.
