Washington, D.C. – The Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED) is changing its name to Prosperity Now, a reflection of its deepening commitment to ensuring everyone in this country has the opportunity to become financially secure and prosper.

The new name, along with a new website and refreshed brand, does not reflect a change in mission but is meant to more clearly convey the organization’s vision and work. “With the issues we care about commanding more attention than ever before, we feel now is the time to ensure our name is clear, concise and aspirational. We think Prosperity Now achieves all those goals,” said Andrea Levere, president of Prosperity Now (formerly CFED).

Levere noted that the word “prosperity” is “synonymous with a healthier and more fulfilling life that starts with financial security – not being one paycheck away from financial disaster – and evolves into the ability to save, build wealth and climb the economic ladder.”

Prosperity Now will remain an important source for new data and analysis about the struggles facing low- and moderate-income families in the U.S., as well as policies and programs that help people achieve financial stability and prosper. The organization’s updated website will make it easier to find key research and other materials on issues related to poverty, wealth inequality and the racial wealth divide.

Look for the release next month of our annual Prosperity Now Scorecard (formerly the Assets & Opportunity Scorecard), which assesses the 50 states and the District of Columbia on a range of prosperity measures in five issue areas: household finances and wealth, job quality and business ownership, housing, education and health care.

Prosperity Now (formerly CFED) believes that everyone deserves a chance to prosper. Since 1979, we have helped make it possible for millions of people, especially people of color and those of limited incomes, to achieve financial security, stability and, ultimately, prosperity. We offer a unique combination of scalable practical solutions, in-depth research and proven policy solutions, all aimed at building wealth for those who need it most.
